I will be honest, I always liked the notion behind Fiverr.com.

Just a couple of clicks and a customer can put an order with a freelancer based on a particular set of deliverables.

Sure, but it comes at a cost. A big one.

This is only the very few freelance platforms where buyers have been given free reign to abuse, sabotage and blackmail vendors any way that they like.

In this informative article, I'd like to share a recent bad experience as a vendor on Fiverr, and why I decided to give up on the platform altogether.

(I've been guiding her building a reputable accounts, and how to go beyond and above every last purchase. Everything mentioned is her doing, I'm just an audience )

In this case, she had only gotten another $5 order on her emblem gig, which seemed to be like another... so we believed.

The purchase was fulfilled in good time, and my buddy had even included a bonus emblem concept in addition to the source file (that is usually a part of the pricier bundle ).

The client"loved" among the concepts and so we moved to ship her the appropriates file sizes, as mentioned in the final description.

The client came back requesting a social networking kit to choose the emblem, something that is clearly not available as part of her or his gig.

Against my advice, my buddy decided to provide the extra job, although not getting paid any extra for it.

After that, the client responded with more requirements and a few alterations to the social networking files.

At this time, she concurred enough was enough.

Despite every effort to please this individual, they have been clearly overstepping their bounds here.

That is when the customer went from only overstepping boundaries to unquestionable blackmail. (The equivalent of taking my girlfriend Fiverr standing hostage.)

While she took a while to contemplate a response and reach out to Fiverr support for assistance, the customer did eventually go ahead and render a 1 star review.

Presumably this was to show her he/she was Fiverr Review: Is It A Legit Freelance Marketplace or A Scam? not kidding.

Soon after, while waiting on Fiverr's response to the support question, the customer paid an extra $10 to your social media kit.

Naturally, the payment has been accompanied by still another threat.

Now, all I wished to do was go all Liam Neeson and seek this person down more info here so I could repeatedly punch them in the face.

But, at the time, I had hope that Fiverr service would step in and rescue my girlfriend from this PITA client.

When the answer came from Fiverr support, they told that they could Fiverr Review The Gig Economist Gigging for a Living For ... not induce the purchaser to accept the purchase.

Okay, that is fair enough. (though the buyer already accepted it.)

In addition they suggested drawing up a list for the purchaser to demonstrate the work was completed in accordance with the gig prerequisites.

Honestly, this response simply didn't cut the mustard.

My girlfriend hauled in her initial email that the client was trying to extort her for free work outside the agreed periods, by leaving a negative inspection if she did not comply.

Of course, it wasn't really about the job, it had been about seeking protection from an abusive client who had been blatantly pushing their luck.

Their answer didn't give either of us any assurance that Fiverr actually knew that, and even at this stage we felt like they didn't wish to get involved.

At exactly the exact same time, she responded to the buyers newest danger, explaining that she would not continue to work together unless the feedback had been changed/removed.

(Again, this will be feedback which has been obviously and intentionally made to bully her to providing work out of the agreed conditions )

An honest petition by anyones standards, correct?

Rather than acknowledge what the buyer had done up until this time, Fiverr instantly turned the tables in my girlfriend.

Turns out, she had been the only breaking all the rules.

Because she'd requested the client to change their feedback, she was no longer eligible for some help from Fiverr support.

It is possible to imagine how we both felt reading this.

What the buyer had said and done prior to her final message was now being swept under the carpet -- as if never happened whatsoever.

Fiverr essentially decided to support a manipulative bully, leaving my girlfriend using a permanent stain on an accounts she'd worked so tough to accumulate.

And think, there are plenty of buyers doing exactly this on Fiverr, knowing they could and will get away with it.

But as most of this was happening, I did a little research to find out if any other vendors went through a similar ordeal with an individual buyer.

Very quickly, I discovered a range of almost equal cases on the Fiverr forum dated years back. (that's right, decades.)

This is obviously something which's been going on for a long time and it stems from giving buyers too much power over vendors.

When there's 1 thing I've heard about Fiverr, it's that customers are ALWAYS more valued than freelancers.

Regardless of how much time that you put into a job, or just how hard you worked on itor maybe how long you managed communication in a dispute, even as it actually boils down to it... freelancers have little to no protection.

Even when it is a very clear cut case in your favor, there is still every chance the client will come out at the top. It takes it one tiny thing you"did wrong" according to their terms of service and EVERYTHING else is disregarded

Taking a look at the evidence, it's obvious to me Fiverr is well aware of what is going on, yet is still ready to settle back and let it happen.

If you're a decision maker at Fiverr and you're reading this, then I urge you to seriously reevaluate your existing support procedures for freelancers.

It's not right that somebody can set all that time and effort in to establishing an account and also over-delivering at every conceivable opportunity, just to be taken down by the very people that you rely on to protect you.

Look, I really don't want to abandon Fiverr. I don't wish to be telling folks to prevent your own platform.

But after everything that's happened, you haven't left me any choice.

Until something is done to guard freelancers from using this type of abuse, I will continue to spread this post and do anything I could to stop others from falling prey to a one-sided support team.

The second you truly do something about it and also provide freelancers a means to fight , I'll be more than happy to update the post.
